The Shakers capitalise on Dons after a Shambolic display from MK. A second half double from Andy Bishop answered Keith Andrews 20 yarder from the first half.

As the game kicked off on Saturday there was a level of optimism around Stadium: MK. Mk Dons looked like a team that was certain to go up from an impressive pre-season, however the first league game at the new arena was not one to be remembered.

The first half started with the Dons dominating. Bury rarely posed any threat but whenever they did Dons stopper Willy Gueret looked assured in between the sticks. A front line of Kevin Gallen and Leon Knight sounded like an exiting prospect but the home fans were left disappointed. On 20 minutes Keith Andrews opened the scoring with a wonder strike. The Dons then rarely looked threatening but to be fair nor did Bury.

As the second half kicked off MK Dons seemed to play complacently and started to lost the ball in the middle of the park and were punished when substitute Andy Bishop capitalised on a mix up at the back and levelled the score. Then minutes later Bishop went down in the box and Danny McDermid pointed to the spot and showed Drissa Diallo the red card. Bishop sent Gueret the wrong way and shell shocked Dons found themselves behind. Paul Ince`s response was to replace Leon Knight with Kieran Murphy and leave trailing Dons with 31-year-old Gallen up front on his own. What was to follow was just real frustration as MK could not string anything together and created nothing.

The Dons now lie 19th in the table after their first game, and must improve quickly if they wish to make any serious promotion push.
