Buoyed by the dropped points of Preston once again on Friday MK Dons went into Saturday’s game with Leyton Orient knowing that we had the chance to close the gap on them in second behind Champions Bristol City.

We did that emphatically with a six-one win over struggling Leyton Orient at the stadium:mk to close the gap on Preston to within a point with us poised to pounce if they continue to leave that door ajar!

At the midway point of the first half we made the breakthrough with Bowditch (22) left with a simple finish with returning Bolton loanee Hall (24) quickly adding the second when his cross didn’t get a touch from anyone to end us in the back of the net.

Three-goals in seven-minutes came when Grigg (29) made it three-nil before the half hour mark when he converted from the penalty stop with Hall (37) deflected effort amazingly seeing us score four-goals in 15-minutes to go into the break four-up!

A trick for Hall (59) was wrapped up before the hour, as he claimed the match ball with Simpson (69) pulling back a consolation for Leyton Orient but we had the last say when Alli (81) made it the joy of six late one.

It’s now eight-matches unbeaten for us and we know that if we better Preston next time round we’ll go into the final day of the season with automatic promotion in our own hands, as long as we match them it’ll still go down to a final day showdown whereas our visitors drop back into the bottom four again….
