MK Dons’ chances of clinching that second automatic promotion place ahead of Preston, but behind Bristol City who virtually crowned League 1 champions on Tuesday, were given a boost with a win at Fleetwood.

Three second half goals saw us to a three-nil win at the Highbury Stadium that keeps our chances of catching Preston very much on but virtually ended the Fleetwood hopes of a late surge into the play-offs themselves.

Neither side could make a first half breakthrough in a goalless first half but that changed early in the second half when Chelsea loanee Baker (55) got in to turn home a cross from Alli to put us one-nil up, arguably against the run of play at the time.

A good old-fashioned long ball forward, as Fleetwood pushed forward looking for an equaliser, saw Grigg (74) get in and he continued his impressive season with his latest goal to make it two.

The points were secured two-minutes later when Alli (76) drove home from 20-yards to wrap up a three-nil win. This also celebrated, and further pushed home his claims to win this, his nomination for the Football League Young Player of the Year award: Click Here

Victory moves us to within three-points of Preston in second, but with our goal-difference much better we know that if they slip up we can capitalise!
