Going into the game at the stadium:mk we knew that we had to win and we did just that as we thrashed Yeovil five-one, with Colchester beating Preston one-nil it meant that they, and not us, have to take part in the play-offs as we end as League 1 runners-up.

Following a Carruthers pass it was Baker (7) that got us off to a great start, to settle some nerves, when he fired home from 20-yards early on to put us one-up.

Captain Lewington’s (24) curling freekick made it two at the midway point of the first half and he then turned provider as he for two goal in four-minutes to end the half. First he headed down for Potter (35) to convert before crossing into Grigg (39) to head home meaning it was four at half time, with that goal also our 100th of the League 1 season!

An own goal from Spence (56), when he turned the ball into his own net, was a blemish that saw Yeovil get one back but Lewington (74) headed home his second to make it five with 15-minutes to play.

When the news came through that Colchester, who also missed a penalty in that game, had secured a one-nil win over Preston we knew that we had secured promotion into the Championship!
