Tore Andre Flo, the former Chelsea & Leeds United striker, has been on trial with the Dons for the past week, Vital Dons understands.

Flo, 35, made 169 appearances for Chelsea, appearing alongside new Dons’ manager Roberto Di Matteo at the club, and bagged 50 goals.

He moved to Rangers for £12m in November 2000, where he scored 29 goals in 53 appearances in the SPL, before moving back to the Premier League with Sunderland.

There he scored just four times in 29 games, before moving to Italian side Siena. He quickly became a hit as his new club established themselves in Serie A over two seasons. He was an ever-present in his first season in Italy, bagging eight goals, and five from 17 starts in 2004/05.

Flo also has previous when it comes to linking up again with former team-mates who have since become club managers. He joined former Chelsea pal Dennis Wise at Leeds United in January 2007, where he scored four times in 23 games. However, on 11th March 2008 he announced his retirement from the game.

It appears that Di Matteo may have convinced the Norwegian to give it one last hurrah in English football, as the striker has been training with the first-team for the past week. He was also recently spotted at the club’s training ground in Woughton.

It seems Di Matteo will assess the striker’s fitness levels before deciding whether to offer him some kind of formal deal at the club.

Would be lovely if this worked out well for everyone but he has had a lot of injuries lately, might just be a step too far for an aging (and very lanky) body!
