With a new manager and a squad barely capable of fielding the required eleven starters and five substitutes, surely Dons’ manager Roberto Di Matteo has plans to delve into the transfer market any day now.

Thus, a number of transfer rumours relating to the Dons have reached us from afar here at Vital Dons HQ.

First up is Steve Robinson, a 34-year-old midfielder from Luton Town. With the Hatters cash-strapped and starting the season in League Two on -30 points, you could forgive just about anybody who wanted to get as far away from Kenilworth Road as possible.

He has five caps with Northern Ireland, and has been at Luton since 2002, when the club paid £50,000 to take him from Presto North End.

He made 24 league appearances last season, although picked up an unhealthy nine yellow and one red card. He has spent time at Tottenham, Bournemouth and Bristol City as well.

The second name being spoken is Danny Rose, the former Leeds United and current Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.

Rose, 18, has made a name for himself impressing in the Spurs’ reserves, however continues to find it dificult to break into Juande Ramos’ first-team, amidst all the new signings.

Talk of a four-month loan to the Dons’ is rife, although Tottenham may be aiming a bit higher than League One if they did decide to ship him out on loan.

Finally, Adrian Pettigrew has been mentioned in the same breath as MK Dons’ recently too.

The 21-year-old never managed to break into contention at Chelsea, although has spent time on loan at Wycombe, Brentford & Rotherham.

Apparently Pettigrew is a free agent having been released by Chelsea at the end of the season. Although strictly speaking, we do not actually need a central defender right now.
