Dons Win Again!

The Dons notched up their 4th League win in a row yesterday, making the total number of league wins 5 out of 6, which is a fantastic start to our campaign.

Many Dons fans were unsure about the outcome of this game, as it had stalemate written all over it. But to our surprise we were 3-0 up after 73mins and cruising to victory……Until it started to get very sweaty as Notts County pulled two goals back against our battle weary team.

For the first time in ages we had an extremely good ref for this game. He was strong and was prepared to use his assistants when decisions needed to be made. A shout for a penalty for County was ruled out after the ref had pointed to the spot, only for the linesman to call the ref over and instruct him that a foul on our defender had been committed just before the county player went down. This upset the away bench, but hey it was the right decision.

Notts county played hard and were at times over zealous with their tackles, and it was only a matter of time before their players started to get discplined by the ref. This came to a head when firstly Matt Sommer was sent off in the first half, and then their captain Alan White was given his marching orders, both for persistant fouling.

All three of the Dons goals were well taken, with Dyer getting two and super-sub Scott Taylor getting the third. The goals that were conceded by the Dons should have been better dealt with and were gifts to the away side.

So, what looked like a draw, ended up a goalfest with a very nervy ending with plenty of action. A fantastic way to spend a couple of hours on a saturday afternoon.

With the options you have upfront it would be a major surprise if you failed to get promoted.

rodge – think you are being a little hard on your team here -this ain’t a ‘pretty’ football division, its blood and thunder. fitness is the key to this league.

you are having a brilliant start to the campaign…. surely you will be looking towards at least the playoffs if not an automatic promotion spot as long as you can hold on to this winning start of yours….
