Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd has claimed he feels his side will be priced out of the race for MK Dons’ skipper Keith Andrews.

Andrews has been at the centre of a summer transfer wrangle, which culminated in him being slapped onto the transfer list by the club at the weekend.

Blackburn Rovers, guided by former Dons manager Paul Ince, are understood to be keen on the midfield man, although the Hornets had expressed interest of their own in recent days.

However, Boothroyd has now claimed he doesn’t believe they can afford him.

‘I don`t think I`ll have the sort of money they (MK Dons) are talking about to go and bid for that player,’ revealed Boothroyd.

‘He`s player I really like, he was the best player in League Two last year.’

‘He would score a lot of goals for us but I`m not in a position to go and spend that kind of money.’

Blackburn were understood to have agreed terms on a deal for Andrews, although were said to be stalling as Ince did not want to make the signing of his former team-mate and close pal his first transfer at his new club.

We need someone proven at Championship level anyway…. Let Blackburn have him.. He won’t get a game…. If he want’s to play week in week out he should stay where he is at MK….
