Miguel Angel Llera has completed a move to the MK Dons this evening on a free transfer.

The tall centre-half signs on a one-year contract and becomes the club’s sixth signing of the summer.

He arrives from Spanish Second Division side Hercules CF after making 18 appearances, scoring one goal and guiding them to a sixth-placed finish last season.

The 30-year-old has spent most of his senior career in Spain, with spells at Recreativo, Alicante and Gimnastic.

He will provide much-needed strength to Roberto Di Matteo’s squad, and will be looking to push fellow centre-backs Sean O’Hanlon, Jude Stirling and Drissa Diallo for a starting place.

Llera is expected to be able to make his debut in the Dons’ home clash with Yeovil Town on Saturday.
