Ali Gerba, the 26-year-old Canadian striker who signed a one-year contract with the MK Dons a couple of weeks ago, is expected to miss the weekend game against Swindon Town.

The forward is still in his native Canada, after featuring in the national side’s recent World Cup qualifier against Jamaica, waiting for his work permit to be rubber-stamped by the authorities.

It is believed that the club are growing increasingly frustrated with the delay in having the threat of their latest striking recruit available.

MK Dons boss Roberto Di Matteo, speaking to the club’s official site, explained, ‘We’re still waiting for him to get his permit stamped by the British Embassy in Canada before he comes back.’

‘It’s a bit of bureaucracy we’re fighting against but as soon as it’s done he’ll be another threat up front for us.’

The home fixture against Yeovil Town, on September 6th, has been pencilled in now as a more likely date for Gerba’s Dons debut.
