Vital MKD understands that MK Dons Academy coach (Mike Dove) has applied for the vacant manager`s position with the Dons.

Mike Dove has been with the Dons since the Dons moved to Milton Keynes, and has experienced everything the Dons have been through since the move. Talking to the MK Citizen this week he said:

‘I believe I have the drive and passion that’s needed to move the club forward.’

He continued: ‘Pete Winkelman knows all about my commitment.’

‘It’s a unique set-up, and anyone who comes in has to understand what we need. I’ve been here from the beginning and worked on this project with the chairman for a long time.’

During Mike Doves time at the club, he has had more than one job title, but most noticeably he was Assistant Manager to Danny Wilson, after Ian Bowyers departure in early 2006.

Several high calibre names have been mentioned as rumours since Martin Allen left the club, but there is still nothing official from Mr Winkelman. Some of the names that have been coming from the rumour mill are Mickey Adams and Mike Newell. Mickey Adams (who is believed to be a friend of Pete Winkelman) has confirmed his interest this week, while talking to ‘MK Citizen`.

He said: ‘It’s an exciting job.’

The former Leicester City man who has gained promotions with various teams on no fewer than 3 occasions also told the MK Citizen:

‘The MK Dons job certainly does appeal to me – I am more than interested in it’.
