At the weekend MK Dons did what they have been threatening to do at other times in the early weeks of the season, score a hatful of goals!

Karl Robinson has been critical of The Dons’ finishing in recent weeks although, as he told BBC Three Counties Radio, he could not fault this at all following the 6-2 win over Chesterfield: ‘before today we have had the performance levels. The difference today was we got the ball in the net on a consistent basis. It was a wonderful performance by a group of men that worked hard all week, all season and all summer.

‘It was a good test today, Chesterfield are a good team. Maybe it wasn’t their day.’

The Dons manager had already waxed lyrical about Sam Baldock but his hat-trick in this win saw him do it again: ‘people will start to listen to us about how good he is. He is a very, very exceptionally gifted footballer.

‘We see him do that all the time in training and it is no surprise when we seem him put them in the back of the net.’
