MK Dons have been worked hard this pre-season claims striker Jemal Johnson, who believes this is his toughest pre-season ever.
The American feels that the gruelling schedule that Roberto Di Matteo has put them through will pay of this season, with the Dons reaping the benefits of it: ‘I’ve enjoyed it so far, and I definitely feel as if I’m getting fitter,’ Johnson told the official website. ‘This is definitely the hardest one I’ve done, especially with the weather being so hot, but I know we’ll feel the benefits of it later on in games.
‘I’ve been doing weights and working hard in the gym, so I also feel stronger.
‘I’ve only played around 80 minutes in pre-season, but I feel as though I can feel my fitness coming back.’
The benefits of getting a top pre-season under your belt can’t be underestimated, as the better this is the more you feel the benefits of this during the season ahead. So if Johnson’s teammates feel the same then the Dons should have a very good season in League One.
Do you think that the gruelling pre-season programme that new MK Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo seems to have put his players through will see the Dons benefit this season? If so, just how much do you think this will help them during the League One campaign?
