Aside from the obvious joy of playing one of the world’s greatest teams, as soon as the draw with Manchester United was made a key topic on Dons fans lips has been the revenue that could be drawn from the fixture.

Now that Stadium MK has all but sold out, and with the prospect of extra match-day revenue, the likelihood is that the club will have money to spend. The real issue is how much Robinson will be given to work with, although confirmed to Three counties Radio after the Chesterfield game on Tuesday that ‘The cup competitions are going to allow me to do a bit of business this week’.

‘I want to go into the transfer window for another defender hopefully this week and bring somebody else in because we need that support.’

Despite strong defensive performances in recent games the Dons lack defensive back-up with only the inexperienced Tom Flanagan and George Baldock to call upon, with the left-back position only covered by the presumption that captain Dean Lewington will ‘never get injured’. The recent injury to right-back Lee Hodson adds more pressure to bring a versatile player in.

The talented Jordan Spence, who spent part of last season on loan at Stadium:MK, is one of the names being suggested, although most fans just want the assurance that the squad is fully prepared for the remainder of the long season.
