Flavien Belson has completed his move to MK Dons from French second division side Metz this morning, joining on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent transfer.

The 21-year-old defensive midfield man spent three days on trial with the Dons earlier in the summer, and impressed new manager Roberto Di Matteo and his coaching staff.

News of the deal being completed were leaked yesterday by the French club, although Di Matteo was quick to stress the formalities had not been completed.

‘We are looking to tie a deal with the boy, it hasn’t been done yet, we haven’t agreed anything, but it is a player we are interested in,’ he told the Milton Keynes Citizen yesterday.

‘If we had the money it would be a permanent deal, but we don’t so it will be a season-long loan.’

Belson graduated from the same FC Metz Academy that has produced stars Robert Pires, Emmanuel Adebayor and Louis Saha, thus much is expected of the French Under-18 international.

He takes the No.16 jersey for the season at stadium:mk, and is set for his debut against Huddersfield on Saturday.
