The regional split, as they do it in the first round of the league cup, made it more likely that it would happen but as fate would have it Milton Keynes Dons got a draw few would have wanted.

MK Dons play host to AFC Wimbledon tonight in what will be only the second meeting since AFC Wimbledon formed in 2002.

Karl Robinson is likely to make changes to his MK Dons side, they started with a four-two win over Gillingham and don’t need to make many enforced chances but the boss will.

One that isn’t eligible to play is on loan defender Adam Barrett with Andy Frampton (ankle) still in the sidelines.

AFC Wimbledon snapped up no fewer than nine players in the summer and eight of them made debuts on Saturday, Neal Ardley is likely to make a change or two with Adebayo Azeez in line to make his debut, having been the only one not to do so thus far.

The only ever meeting between the sides came in the FA cup, with MK Dons victorious on that occasion with an extended run in the league cup something that we’ve regularly managed.

Who will win tonight? It’ll be a battle but you would think that MK Dons will just have too much….
