Milton Keynes Dons’ intentions to bring in a goalscoring striker this summer are well documented; one of the rumoured targets has been confirmed as a player of interest to Karl Robinson.

This striker is Scunthorpe United’s 23-goal man from last seasons league 2 promotion winning side Sam Winnall.

Robinson wanted to show respect to his Scunthorpe counterpart Russ Wilcox, and didn’t want to talk about the 23-year-old striker too much, but conceded that he’s a player he would want to sign but also knows he wouldn’t be alone in wanting him.

The MK Dons boss told BBC Three Counties Radio: ‘Before I do anything I would speak to the manager of the team. I haven’t spoken to Russ Wilcox at all yet.

‘But I think he is somebody a lot of teams would be interested in, it’s not just me.’

Another one of his targets has been Rochdale’s Scott Hogan but the 19-goal man has been quoted as costing ‘an awful lot of money’ so Robinson admitted that he felt Winnall represented ‘better value for money’.

Winnall isn’t the only one that he’s ‘hanging his hat on’ though….

Rumours have also linked MK Dons with former Queens Park Rangers striker Tom Hitchcock following his release by the London side. MK Dons have been attributed with an interest along with Barnsley, Chesterfield, Bradford City, Fleetwood Town and the side he ended last season on loan with Rotherham United.
