Stephen Gleeson has an offer of a new contract in front of him although the MK Dons midfielder is playing the waiting game.

At the moment he is ‘concentrating on his football’ though: ‘I spoke to the chairman and the manager the other day and there is something on the table, but I’m just concentrating on my football at the moment.’

With his contract ending at the end of the season the 23-year-old could leave the stadium:mk for nothing, and his next move is one that he wants to be to the championship, with or without The Dons…

His ‘ambition’ makes him want to play at a higher level and doing this with this club is his priority: ‘I want to play in the Championship, they both know that. If it’s with this club then great, if it’s not then I don’t know what will happen.

‘When I signed, there was a three-year plan to get into the Championship and this is the third year of my deal now. So we’re on track, and if we get promoted, then I’m definitely staying here.

‘I’m an ambitious player, but I’m not getting any younger. I want to play for Ireland again as soon as possible and hopefully I can achieve these things. And if it’s with this club then great, I’m delighted to be here and long may it continue.’

At the moment Gleeson looks like he will be getting his wish with The Dons sitting at the top of the league one table!
