MK Dons have signed Southampton striker Sam Gallagher on a season long loan.

The 19-year-old comes with plenty of experience for his age, having made 20 appearances for the Saints first team, although missed last season due to injury, opening up the chance for a loan move.

With a host of Championship clubs interested in Gallagher, its great news that Robinson has secured his services and bodes well for attracting future signings. Gallagher told MK Dons Player why he chose the Dons:

“It`s unbelievable to be here. From the moment I got here, I`ve been made to feel really welcome – to feel wanted by someone like Karl, and to be at this kind of Club, gives me a real boost.

“I`ve talked to people about the way this Club operates and it gives off a similar feel to where Southampton were at this point. It feels like the Club are going in a similar direction and so it was a no brainer to come here.”

We can probably expect Gallagher to be Robinson`s first choice striker for the upcoming campaign, and the Dons boss was looking forward to what the 6ft 4in striker can offer the side:

“I think everyone will be excited by Sam. He`s a player who I`ve watched closely for years, even before he broke into the first team. He`s a really talented player and it wasn`t something I thought we`d have the opportunity of doing.”

And hopefully Gallagher won`t be the only new signing today.
