Milton Keynes Dons’ season continued on Tuesday night with the latest league fixture played, a play-off bid took a knock though.

The chances of MK Dons making the league one play-offs were dented with a 1-0 defeat at stadium:mk against Gillingham on Tuesday night.

Karl Robinson though his team were ‘the better team by far’ but for a fourth home game in a row his side failed to score and this lack of goals is starting to concern him.

The MK Dons boss said: ‘I thought our build-up play and our style was excellent – we got into some great areas. They’ve then had one shot on target and beat us 1-0.

‘We’ve not scored at home since Oldham four games ago.

‘It’s basic. We were the better team by far – we’ve played with energy and we’ve played with hunger.

‘The players put their bodies on the line and they got into some key areas.

A second half goal from Craig Fagan was enough to give Gillingham the win, but with Peterborough also losing MK Dons still remain in the play-off bid.

Some goals need to come though with Robinson admitting his side aren’t showing enough in the final third.

He added: ‘We changed the system two or three times from 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1 to even three at the back with two up front.

‘We changed a number of things and we were constantly dominant, but we can’t score.

‘Don’t think I’m not looking for someone to do that or players to do so – I’m looking everywhere to try and find them.

‘We need it because we were just not good enough in the final part of the pitch.’
