Oldham recently requested that the league one meeting with us was postponed due to international call-ups.

MK Dons’ (should have been) opponents on Saturday has three players called up for international duty this upcoming international window and under football league rules the Latics were entitled to ask.

Ask they did, and this permission was granted…

This game looks likely to be rescheduled for January and as much as Karl Robinson admits his frustration at having to have this game called off he respects Oldham’s right to request such a call.

It would have been nice to keep the momentum going though, he said: ‘It’s frustrating because we’re in good form and we’re winning games. The rules have always been there, though, and it wouldn’t be fair on them to play without three of their players, only because they’ve been doing well.

‘We were ready to play but we’ve got to respect where they are and their decision. Lee Johnson’s got to make a decision for his team not my team. It’s the way football is, we’ve just got to move on with it and it looks like we’ll be playing it in the middle of January.’

We’ll be without players ourselves, who would be away on international duty and out through injury so it might not be a bad thing all in all and Robbo acknowledged that also.

Samir Carruthers, Lee Hodson, David Martin, Antony Kay, Ben Reeves, Luke Chadwick, Dean Bowditch and Dele Alli would have all missed out.
