MK Dons moved above promotion rivals Swindon on Saturday to consolidate our play-off place but also maintain our hopes of catching Preston to finish in the automatic places in League 1 at the end of the season.

A three-nil win was perhaps a little flattering in the end but a display of clinical and impressive finishing saw us to this win at the County Ground.

Penalty appeals came and went for us, at least one penalty should have come our way. Swindon ‘keeper Foderingham also saved from Grigg and Powell while Smith was denied for Swindon in a goalless first half.

Foderingham saved again but Powell (60) followed up with an ‘instinctive header’ to put us ahead on the hour.

A good move, involving Alli and Carruthers, resulted in Grigg (72) curling home number two and after Martin had pulled off a fine save to keep out Gladwin, and deny Swindon a way back into the game, the win was confirmed beyond a doubt.

The seal was put on this win when Grigg (88) finished from close range with two-minutes remaining, before going off to a heroes reception, ‘sign him up’ indeed!

A play-off place is a near certainty now but this win has moved us to within five-points of second placed Preston, so there could still be a late twist in the tail of the League 1 season….
