The failure to secure promotion from League One to the Championship, despite coming close so many times, is starting to become “very frustrating” for Pete Winkelman.

Until promotion is secured the MK Dons chairman, as he told BBC Late Kick Off, said that the club “can’t grow” and he hopes for this soon as it’s something that’s needed for the club: ‘I can’t grow the football club if I can’t get it promoted. And I’m starting to get very frustrated about that.

‘I want to be promoted. It’s my biggest thing – the one thing I think needs to happen to the MK Dons.’

With MK Dons currently 10 points off the play off positions, with games running out, they’ll be hard pushed to make it this season but if they do they’ll be hoping that having snuck in it could be a case of third time lucky having missed out in the semi finals in the past two season.

MK Dons are on a good unbeaten run at the moment, however they’re drawing too many and desperately need to string together two or three wins on the trot to revitalise the fading play off chances.
