Karl Robinson’s reward for the start he guided MK Dons to in league one throughout August saw him named the league one manager of the month. In doing so he become the youngest ever winner of this as he was still a few days short of his 31st birthday!

He was awarded this on Friday morning and had this, when talking to the official website, to say: ‘it’s an end product of a group of players and a group of staff’s hard work yet one person gets an award for it. There are so many people who have contributed to this award in the month. I’m pleased, but I have Sheffield Wednesday to focus on.

‘My name is on it but I’m talking it as a team award, the clich├ęs come out thick and fast with this one! I am very proud, there are players in the dressing room who have put in some very special performances and a group of staff who have worked day in, day out to get where we are at the moment.’

As so often happens this award was followed up with a defeat, with The Dons losing for the first time in the league at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

A poisoned chalice for Robinson then?
