It’s been a difficult period for us in recent times, injuries have bitten hard, confidence knocked and some defeats felt as a result.

Perhaps not a classic, far from it (and Karl Robinson admitted as much), but MK Dons got back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Walsall on Saturday afternoon.

Shaun Williams’ free kick gave us the win with Robinson praising the way we responded to a setback in our last game.

He told BBC Three Counties Radio: ‘I don’t think it was ever going to be a classic because of our confidence being knocked slightly and people questioning one or two things, so I thought the way the players responded was magnificent.’

The match winner Williams and Darren Potter were signalled out for special praise with them branded “sensational” and both put down as joint men of the match by the boss.

Winning took us back up to eighth in the league one table and that in itself, given the limitations we are playing to off late, has left Robbo delighted and to end the “hardest week” he says he has endured at stadium:mk with the win.

He added: ‘We’re gonna be under the radar. That’s the way we are. We’re not really a top-10 team with all the injuries we’re having.

‘To be where we are is marvellous. This has been probably my hardest week I’ve ever had as a manager of this football club.’

Now for us to build on this win; build up the confidence again and see some players returning from injury too!
