Carl Baker didn’t spend the entire season with MK Dons, as he arrived as a free agent in September, but such was the former Coventry mans impact he won the Player of the Year.

Having been released by Coventry last summer the 32-year-old did have options but he opted to join us and signed a contract that took him through until the end of the season and with his help we got the job of promotion done and will be playing Championship football as a result.

Following the confirmation of him signing a new contract, which was announced on the Official Website on Friday, he’ll be coming with us to that level too!

Baker’s signed a new one-year contract, which it’s safe to say he’s happy with.

‘I’m delighted to get it sorted. I love playing football here and it’s perfect for me – the staff, players and the fans are all spot and it couldn`t be much better.

‘This season went really well. I played a big part in helping the team promoted, so it’s nice to be rewarded with a new contract and it will be great to play in the Championship with the lads next year.’

His experience could prove vital to us as we step up next season but with no fewer than 13 assists as well as 10-goals in his 35 appearances we’ll also be hoping that he can show that type of form again.

That former was enough to win him the Player of the Year award, which we’ll be looking for more of the same again as that would go some way towards us enjoying our Championship season next time round!
