Oxford manager Michael Appleton has suggested that he would be interested in signing MK Dons right-back George Baldock.

Baldock struggled to get regular game time at the Dons but impressed on loan at Oxford last season, the club conceding only 10 goals in the 12 games while he was in the side.

Appleton told the Oxford Mail:

“He`s a fantastic player and someone we`d love to have here.

“But the reality is he`s an MK Dons player and they`ve just gone up into the Championship.

“It`s a waiting game because I`m not too sure if they know 100 per cent what they`re going to do.

“They`ve got two very good right backs in front of him this year, but I think we`ll continue to monitor it.”

Indeed, the Dons already have quality right-backs in Jordan Spence and Lee Hodson, and Baldock only has a year left on his Dons contract. However, the 22-year-old may benefit more from League 1 football, either on loan from the Dons or a permanent move.
