It’ll still be a tall order, and remains unlikely, but MK Dons’ slim chances of forcing a late play off spot remain on with a win over promotion chasing Brentford on Easter Monday.

MK Dons, against the run of play, grabbed an early lead through Dean Bowditch (14). His “speculative effort” should have been kept out by Brentford keeper Simon Moore but somehow this squirmed under his body.

Ian McLoughlin twice denied Brentford, while Jonathan Douglas headed wide with Marcello Trotta guilty of a poor miss when left one-on-one with MK keeper McLoughlin, however Patrick Bamford almost added another but saw his effort come off the post.

Brentford has enough chances in the second half to have not only got back into the game but have led it, they weren’t taken and Stephen Gleeson (85) made them pay late on when he secured a 2-0 MK Dons win and end Brentford’s three-game winning streak.
