David Martin’s MK Dons future has been secured with him signing a new contract with the club.

The goalkeeper was out of contract this summer, however he’ll now be at stadium:mk for at least another two-years after this new deal.

Karl Robinson, as he told the official website, has praised the development Martin has shown since his time back at the club, having been signed (re-signed by the club) to become his first signing.

It’s not just his work on the field, but his community work off it, that impresses the MK Dons boss, he said: ‘David was my first signing at this football club.

‘In his first year I thought he showed a lot of promise as well as areas of development for his individual game.

‘Over the past three years he has matured into one of the best goalkeepers in the league, his first touch is fantastic, his shot-stopping is excellent.

‘David is a wonderful asset to this club, as on top of what he offers on the pitch he is also an excellent ambassador in the city. He is constantly out in the community and he meets the demands that come with being a footballer on and off the field and he is the type of role model that I want at this football club.’

Injury forced Martin to miss the final part of the season, due to this Ian McLoughlin came in and did a fine job.

With that in mind McLoughlin is also set to be offered a new deal and Robinson looks forward to the keepers battling for the no.1 spot, adding: ‘Ian McLoughlin has come in over the past few months and done a wonderful job, we’re going to offer Ian a contract as well and hopefully the two of them can fight for a place next year.’

Competition can only be a good thing for the club, having secured Martin doing so with McLoughlin would be great and leave MK Dons well and truly “in safe hands” going forward.
