Dean Bowditch’s Milton Keynes Dons future has been secured by the signing of a new contract.

Bowditch has been hampered by injury this season, only recently returning from a month out after being sidelined before that by a long-term injury but such is his important to MK Dons he’s been given a one-year extension.

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson was ‘ecstatic’ at the signing of his new deal and looks forward to a continued success with the club.

Robinson told the official website: ‘I’m ecstatic that we’ve been able to keep hold of Dean for another year.

‘He’s an integral part of the group so to make sure he’ll be here next season is big business for us.

‘He’s had an unpredictable year but for us to acquire his services for a fourth season is important, as you’ve seen in the games since he’s been back. He bolsters the ambition of the club and he fits perfectly into the mould of player I want at this football club.’

The 27-year-old would have been out of contract at the end of the season but will now be staying at the stadium:mk for a little longer.

He too was ‘absolutely delighted’ to extend his stay and wants to repay the faith shown in him by the club.

He added: ‘I’m absolutely delighted. After the season I’ve had, it has been difficult for both myself and the staff so I thank them so much for putting that trust in me and giving me another year’s deal.

‘I would never go anywhere. I feel I’ve got a point to prove both next season and in the remainder of this season. I want to get out there and show what I can do because I’ve missed a lot of this year and people want to see me out there.’
