With Keith Andrews currently in Blackburn undergoing a medical prior to signing for the Premier League club, attention in Milton Keynes has turned to bringing in a replacement before the transfer deadline at midnight on Monday.

Rumours reaching us here at Vital Dons HQ suggest that Leeds United midfield man Peter Sweeney could fit the bill.

Sweeney has dropped down the pecking order at Elland Road, and it is believed that Whites manager Gary McAllister is keen to see him move on.

A host of sides are understood to be chasing the former Stoke & Millwall man, although the MK Dons are said to be leading said chase.

Dons manager Roberto Di Matteo is believed to be a keen admirer of the player, and would love to bring him to stadium:mk to replace his out-going skipper.

The 23-year-old winger has spent just seven months at Leeds, making nine appearances in that time and failing to make an impact with a single goal.
