MK Dons have signed striker Nicky Maynard on a free transfer until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old was released by Cardiff in the summer and fills a gap the Dons were desperate to fill with current strikers Church and Gallagher with just a goal between them and not impressing on the pitch.
While Maynard clearly wasn`t top of Robinson`s list of striking targets, he has had a great scoring record throughout his career for the likes of Crewe Alexandra, Bristol City and West Ham, averaging around one goal every three games.
Injuries have been a problem in recent years, but should he keep fit Maynard could give the Dons some invaluable Championship experience and goal scoring ability.
Interestingly, Robinson said the Dons` offer was a ‘shock` to Maynard and his team, but it`s testament to the management that they are able to bring in these players with limited finances.
Maynard could also make his debut against Southampton in the Capital One Cup tomorrow.
