As if the club haven’t endured enough transfer speculation this summer, reports are gathering pace that link goalkeeper Willy Gueret with a move away from the club.

Gueret was a notable absentee yesterday for the Dons’ first pre-season game, a 2-1 defeat to Reading – See Match Report, and was seen watching from the stands.

Although Vital Dons understands the keeper was injured and therefore unable to take part against Steve Coppell’s Championship side, his no-show continues to set tongues wagging.

Far-fetched stories suggest that former manager, and new Blackburn Rovers boss, Paul Ince has set his sights on his former No.1 to become an understudy at Ewood Park. While these reports should be read with a pinch of salt, Gueret’s performances last season in the Dons’ title-winning campaign are sure to have won him a string of admirers. Thus he wouldn’t be short of offers this summer if he desired a move elsewhere.

A string of supporters have also claimed that they chatted with the Frenchman during and after yesterday’s match at stadium:mk, and that the message from the 34-year-old was that he was keen to move on.

Gueret was once arrested whilst a Swansea City player after a confrontation with a policeman after his side clinched promotion. He was released without charge.

The keeper was also hailed as the best in the league last season and his departure, along with the imminent loss of club captain Keith Andrews, who was transfer-listed by the club yesterday, will leave a gaping hole in the club’s bid for success in their upcoming League One campaign.

Even though Blackburn is a long shot, I’m afraid to say I fear Willy could be on his way as well.
