Colin Cameron has been told he can find a new club, after new manager Roberto Di Matteo admitted he didn’t figure in his plans.

Cameron had signed for the Dons last summer, linking up with one-time team-mate Paul Ince, and was due an extension to his current deal before Ince left for Blackburn.

News of the former Scottish international’s departure from stadium:mk was broken by his agent, Jim McArthur.

McArthur told SkySports, ‘Colin has been told by the new manager at MK Dons that he is not in his plans and that he can leave the club.’

‘It is a pity as Colin would have liked to have stayed and we were close to agreeing a deal when Paul Ince was still there.’

‘We are now looking for other things and Colin is very open minded about his next move.’

‘He is also looking for somewhere to train in the meantime to keep up his fitness.’

One can only assume that Di Matteo has several new faces lined up, as the current thread-bare squad would be unable to sustain any kind of challenge on League One in its current condition.

Vital Dons would like to thank Colin for his time at the club, and wish him all the best with his future.

Probably the right time for him to leave, although I hope RDM has a suitable replacement waiting in the wings.

think the step up a league to lg 1 wont help him either. he hasn’t got the same pace or ability to run for a full 90 mins that he used to have.

how old is he now cos I can recall him playing for Scotland years ago!
