MK Dons – A Bid For Andrews?

The club have recieved an offer from Blackburn Rovers for captain Keith Andrews, according to reports.

The fee is understood to be just £500k, a paltry sum compared to the speculation of a £2m bid being spoken about in recent weeks, with the presence of £800k in bonuses related to appearances and honours.

The deal which saw Roberto Di Matteo secure a season-long loan for midfielder Flavien Belson, finalised yesterday, is expected to have paved the way for Andrews’ departure.

It is believed that chairman Pete Winkelman has given his go-ahead to accept the Andrews bid, although his Italian manager has been given the final say on whether the deal will go through. It is expected that Di Matteo will grant Andrews his wish, and allow the midfield man to link up again with former manager Paul Ince in Lancashire.

Andrews missed out on a place in the squad for Saturday’s home league match against Northampton, a game the Dons triumphed in 1-0. He has grown disillusioned with life at stadium:mk, and even quoted on SkySportsNews as saying he was ‘too good for League One.’

It is expected that defender Dean Lewington would take over the captain’s armband in the event of Andrews’ departure.
