MK Dons impressive start to the season was one they were looking to maintain against a decent Crewe side on Saturday.

This was indeed the case with them running out winners at stadium:mk…

Bamford and Williams both had chances to have put MK Dons into a commanding early lead, Bamford denied by an effort that clipped the bar and Williams once by Crewe goalie Martin and then a free kick that went just wide.

As it was a deserved MK Dons lead came about when Bamford (20) tapped home after fellow loanee Banton had been on an impressive run to set him up.

Only a fine Mellor challenge prevented Potter, who looked set to score, from doubling the lead after the break.

Ray should have drew Crewe level but with a free header he put this wide while MK Dons keeper Martin made a fine save late in the day to deny Colclough’s volley and ensure MK ran out 1-0 winners.
