MK Dons, who have a good history in the competition, bowed out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday night against Brentford.

MacDonald (19), against his old side, gave The Dons the lead but Brentford hit back through Thompson (27). Chadwick (30) soon gave the hosts the lead again, a lead that was held going into half time.

Brentford equalised again through Alexander (56) and another from Alexander (82) looked as though it had secured the win but an own goal from Douglas (85) meant that the game ended level 3-3.

This meant a penalty shootout…

Brentford managed to keep their nerve and edged this 4-3 to condemn The Dons to an early exit.
