Crawley Town manager Dean Saunders has confirmed that defender Joe Walsh is set to join MK Dons.

Speaking after his side`s 1-1 draw with Sheffield United, Saunders claimed Walsh was due to have a medical at the Dons today.

Rather conveniently, the 22-year-old has not featured for Crawley since a red card against Doncaster on February 10th, and should he sign would likely play back up to Dean Lewington. He would also join former Crawley centre-back Kyle McFadzean in Milton Keynes.

The deal will be a loan with the option of a permanent deal in the summer. Even though he only has six months left on his contract, there will still likely be some sort of a fee required from the Dons.

For many, signing a back-up defender will the final piece of the puzzle for the Don`s squad as they look to bounce back from today`s 2-1 loss at Coventry to achieve automatic promotion.
