MK Dons centre-back Tom Flanagan has signed a new one year contract with the club.

Some were surprised that Flanagan wasn`t released a few weeks ago after a number of seasons without regular game time. However manager Karl Robinson is prepared to give him another chance and told

“Tom is one for the future and I do think he has a great future at this Football Club. His opportunities were limited last season because the other players did so well but when he was called upon he was magnificent.”

Given that Flanagan is 23 the ‘one for the future` argument may not stand up, although it would have been near impossible for him to break into the starting line-up last season, given the strength of McFadzean and Kay.

And while he has had a few poor performances for the Dons, Flanagan did help produce four clean sheets last season and will be hoping to add to his 50 MK appearances in the next campaign.
