Patrick Bamford has been given a chance to shine on the international stage with England after being drafted into the U21 squad for the game tomorrow night.

Injuries and suspension looks as if it will allow the MK Dons striker (on loan from Chelsea of course) to gain his first cap against San Marino at Shrewsbury’s Greenhous Meadow.

West Brom striker Saido Berahino is suspended, having scored twice in a win over Finland last week, and Nick Powell (on loan with Wigan from Man United) is injured so the door is open to Bamford with his 12-goals this season catching Gareth Southgate’s eye….

Being on loan at MK Dons isn’t getting Bamford enough exposure?

I think the fact that his goals and performances on loan for us in league one has gained this have dispelled such thoughts so hopefully with this in mind Chelsea will allow us to keep the 21-year-old until the end of the season.

If a loan spell with a championship side is wanted, and understandably you could see why, he can do this next season when we are playing at that level!
