Dons right-back George Baldock has joined League 2 side Oxford United on a 93-day emergency loan.

The 21-year-old will be at Oxford, 17th in the 4th tier, until the end of the season, while the deal includes a 24-hour recall clause after 28 days.

Dons manager Karl Robinson told mkdons.com:

“George needs to go out and get some game time and while we have cover at the right-back position, this is an ideal opportunity for him to do that.”

Indeed, despite making a few appearances this season Baldock his still behind Spence and Hodson in the right-back pecking order, and isn`t capable of playing in any other position.

Hopefully Baldock will get a good amount of game time with the U`s. The academy product has never been able to hold down a place in the team but, should he impress on-loan, could make a stronger case to be selected more often by Robinson.

Meanwhile, Tom Flanagan returns to the club following a loan spell at Plymouth and will offer more defensive cover for the Dons.
